LIFE Maronesa supports the ongoing workshops for livestock producers in the Alvão region and neighbouring regions. The ‘Sustainable Grazing and Landscape Management’ course was inaugurated on 23 November, with the aim of training livestock and pastoral entrepreneurs. Within the pedagogical approach of the ‘’Shepherds‘ School’, this new training cycle began, organised by the Municipality of Mondim de Basto in partnership with the Terra Maronesa Association – Practical Community for Sustainable Development and with the support of Finerge. With a strong practical and demonstrative focus, the first training session was entitled ‘Soil Fertility, Plants and Pastures’ and was led by Prof Carlos Aguiar, who passed on to the producers and shepherds of the Alvão region the knowledge and techniques that promote fertile and productive soil profiles, acquired through the works of evaluating and monitoring good land management practices and the productive handling of herds and flocks, implemented in the LIFE Maronesa project.
