The Portuguese Iberian wolf subpopulation south of the Douro River is currently fragmented and highly isolated from the rest of the Iberian population, due to geographic, ecological and social barriers. The LIFE WolFlux project aims to promote the ecological and socio-economic conditions necessary to support the viability of this Iberian wolf subpopulation.

LIFE MIDMACC promotes adaptation through the implementation and testing of different landscape management measures to address the challenges related to climate change in the marginal mid-mountain areas of Spain (La Rioja, Aragon and Catalonia), while improving their socio-economic development.

“Terra Maronesa” is a practical community that seeks, from a holistic and systemic approach, to value the habitat territory of the native “Maronesa” bovine breed and a vast food heritage in its different economic, cultural, social, environmental and tourist aspects.

Rebanhos + intends to use oriented pasture as a tool to manage natural spaces, prevent fires in a coordinated way between different border territories and recover degraded areas. For this purpose, work will be carried out on the creation of models of georeferenced information systems (GIS) that, through a virtual platform, allow the prevention of risks and adaptation to climate change in the territories.

Depopulation and a disused agricultural activity without generational change in rural territories can be fought by promoting sustainable development, which in turn helps to mitigate climate change. This project seeks to combat these aspects by valuing the territory’s livestock heritage with the creation of an interpretation center and the design and implementation of a set of educational, gastronomic and tourist activities.

Between the Alvão mountains and the digital world, FERA and Aguiarfloresta created the first school for shepherds in Portugal. The course began in early 2021 and aims to train the “pastors of the future”
