Replication and transfer actions of LIFE Maronesa have begun

Yesterday, July 20th, LIFE Maronesa replication and transfer actions began, which included the visit of several members and entities from the community of Arouca, Serra de Montemuro and Freita, to the farms of our follower producers.

In the morning, in Lamas de Olo, Arouquesa and goat breeders were able to receive a technology lesson from producer Heitor Fernandes, who demonstrated how it works and how GPS collars and their application are used. Visiting producers can also take the opportunity to see how their marshes are managed during the year and the most recent hay collection work.

Later, a workshop was also held at the farm of the follower producer Rafael Costa, in the parish of Bilhó, where producers were able to show how our “anti-stress” mangoes are used and also the mobile mangers. We also pass through the pastured mountain areas of the Baldio do Bilhó, where the benefit of the passage of the Maronesas and the role of mobile mangers in these areas was demonstrated.

After lunch, a discussion session was held to create working groups and identify obstacles in the Arouca community to initiate cooperation actions between the two regions. Before returning, there was the opportunity to visit one of the watering points built in Bilhó, which serve the entire local community.

In addition to the Arouquesa breed and goat producers, we were also able to count on the presence of the councilor for the environment, forest and rural development, technicians from the City Council, the agricultural cooperative and also forest and environmental associations in the region.
